POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Vice President of Business Development will play a key role in driving economic diversification and creating high-impact opportunities for business growth in Southern Nevada. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Business Development, this individual will lead efforts to attract, retain, and expand businesses in the region, focusing on fostering partnerships with the regional startup ecosystem. Key stakeholders will include entrepreneurs, startup companies, angel investors, venture capital firms, university programs, and corporate sponsors. The Vice President will develop and execute strategies to support business development and strengthen the local economy.
Organization Overview: LVGEA is a rapidly growing regional economic development organization dedicated to driving economic growth in Southern Nevada. Our mission focuses on fostering connectivity, promoting community development, and conducting proactive business recruitment, retention, and outreach initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:

- Lead and manage strategic initiatives aimed at attracting and retaining businesses in Southern Nevada.
- Build and maintain relationships with startup ecosystem partners, including entrepreneurs, startup mentors, investors, and corporate sponsors.
- Develop and implement programs that support startup growth, innovation, and economic diversification.
- Represent LVGEA at community events, public forums, and meetings with key stakeholders.
- Serve as a catalyst for regional economic growth by identifying new business opportunities and facilitating their success in the region.
- Provide support to startups and high-growth companies at various stages of development.
- Oversee and manage high-priority projects, ensuring timely execution and measurable outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop marketing, outreach, and business development strategies.
- Ensure strict confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive matters.
- Regularly report on key performance indicators and outcomes to LVGEA leadership.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (business administration, economics, or a related discipline).
- Minimum of 5 years’ Experience in Business development with a proven track record of attracting businesses, supporting startups, and working with investors.
- Direct knowledge of and experience in the Las Vegas business community is highly preferred.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver presentations to diverse audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Effective organizational and time management skills, with a high sense of ownership and accountability.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
- Confidence, humility, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA), a nonprofit economic development organization, serves Clark County, Nevada, and is designated by the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. Established in 2012 with roots dating back to 1956, LVGEA’s mission is to expand and diversify the local economy by attracting new businesses and supporting existing ones.
The Controller role at LVGEA will lead financial management and strategy, providing critical financial reporting and strategic insights to the CEO and overseeing finance-related projects essential to LVGEA’s mission. Responsibilities include finance, contract management, federal and state compliance, and overall business operations in partnership with LVGEA’s CPA firm.
This role requires a proactive financial leader who is strategic, organized, and compliance-driven, ready to support LVGEA’s mission to strengthen the local economy.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Financial Integrity & Reporting: Ensure accounting data accuracy by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions; manage all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems following GAAP and regulatory standards.
- Payroll & Compliance: Process payroll, maintain internal control safeguards, and ensure compliance with legal standards for all financial activities.
- Budgeting & Planning: Support CEO and COO with annual budget planning, variance analysis, and corrective actions; compare actual results against financial plans.
- Financial Presentations: Present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Finance & Audit Oversight: Lead Finance and Audit Committee meetings, manage financial and grants accounting, and ensure alignment with grant/program budgets.
- Tax & Audit Preparation: Prepare quarterly sales tax returns, annual 990s and 1099s, audit schedules, and liaise with auditors.
- Operations Management: Coordinate office functions, including facilities management, vendor relations, and equipment procurement.
- Policy Development: Develop and implement office policies and ensure compliance with organizational regulations; facilitate communication across departments and external stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Education: Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in accounting; knowledge of grant accounting, single audits, and compliance in nonprofit settings is a strong plus.
- Skills: Proficient in QuickBooks Online, effective time management, and organizational abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Attributes: High sense of ownership, accountability, and urgency.
